Collider are in the studio as we speak recording their first EP. This will be there first Taipei show this year. Skycruiser welcomes the return of the one and only Toby Garrod aka Gads back to Taiwan. This will also be thier first show this year. Zappa-heads Soup Mother complete an interesting trifecta of differing styles on the genre front. Expect the unexpected. Collider樂團 Collider are a five piece instrumental band based in Taipei. Formed in 2007 from the ashes of other great Taipei bands; ‘to a god unknown’, ‘public radio’, ‘neon’ and ‘consider the meek’, the band play instrumental music that relies heavily on dynamics, guitar effects and the awesome power of twin drummers. Collider songs are epic journeys into sound that are both achingly beautiful and terrifyingly heavy. Occasionally the band features guest vocalists Pia Hsieh and Alan McIvor (Aurora), but has never felt the need to incorporate a full time singer as the music itself is powerful and captivating. Led by Terry "T-Bone" Engel on guitar and vocals, May 17th's program will also feature the likes of Cat Mars on keyboard, DC Rapier on sax and flute, Greggo Russell on drums, and Karim on bass. who knows/ Maybe others by the time the date rolls around. Their original music will be humorous in nature and the cover material will not be familiar at all. However it should all culminate in a few sing-a-long numbers if you are all good boys and girls A guaranteed good time and the kind of musicianship that will have you tapping your foot in 7/8 in no time. Or rather, in strict time.
